Armed Services Committee Chairmen Call for Delay In Gays-in-the-Military Law

CMR News Release:

In a September 12 letter to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard "Buck" McKeon (R-CA) and Personnel Subcommittee Chairman Joe Wilson (R-SC) called for delay in the implementation of repeal of the 1993 law regarding gays in the military, mislabeled "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."  Implementation of the repeal is planned for next Tuesday, September 20, but the repeal legislation requires written regulations (not PowerPoint slides), which the Defense Department has not provided to Congress.

New Defense Secretary Lets Down the Troops by “Certifying” Military LGBT Law

Late on Friday afternoon, July 22. President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen signed a piece of paper “certifying” that repeal of the 1993 law regarding gays in the military would do no harm to the armed forces.  The document has no credibility, but it will have harmful consequences.  Having pulled the trigger for final repeal 60 days later, on September 20, President Barack Obama will own the San Francisco/LGBT Military that he has created.  The Center for Military Readiness issued an immediate news release, which is posted here.

Military Misused in Political Payoff to Gay Activists

With a news release on June 28, CMR revealed a previously-undisclosed DoD Inspector General Report, which confirms that results of the DoD Working Group review on gays in the military were pre-determined in July 2010, before the survey of the troops even began. Shortly after a White House strategy session, a well-spun story was leaked to the Washington Post. The misleading story misrepresented the concerns of unknowing military personnel who participated in the process in good faith, in the hopes that their views would be heard and respected.
